A
Neo-Nazi march in Sweden. Is this woman
doing "the right thing"?
What risks is she taking? Are anybody's
rights being violated
here, and if so, which rights? Whose? What
other ways could
she protest against these Neo-Nazis marching
through her town? |

Panel
14: Human Rights Today
World
War II and the Holocaust leave deep scars. It
also creates a commitment in the hearts of many
to create a better world, free of war. Another
World War could be the last for humanity, especially
with the new threat of nuclear weapons.
The
United Nations is created in 1945. In 1948 the
world's nations agree on a document that guarantees
the rights of all people: The Universal Declaration
of Human Rights. Other human rights treaties
have been signed, but unfortunately they have
been unable to prevent violence, wars and genocides
around the globe.
But
the issue of human rights does not only affect
nations. These are rights that we have in our
schools, our work and our communities. Some
schools have policies that protect students'
rights. What about your school?
